Twisha Sharma Death Case: Viral Audio Clip Sparks Allegations of Character Assassination as CBI Probe Is Approved

The Twisha Sharma death case in Bhopal has escalated with a viral audio clip allegedly questioning her character, prompting renewed allegations from her family. As the Madhya Pradesh government approves a Central Bureau of Investigation probe, disputes over forensic evidence, postmortem procedures, and accused conduct intensify amid demands for justice and a second examination.

A viral audio recording has intensified the controversy surrounding the death of 24-year-old Twisha Sharma in Bhopal earlier this month, with her family alleging that her mother-in-law questioned her character during a recorded conversation that has now surfaced amid an ongoing investigation.

According to Twisha Sharma’s cousin, Meenakshi Sharma, the audio clip allegedly captures a conversation between Twisha’s brother, Major Harshit Sharma, and her mother-in-law, Giribala Singh. Meenakshi Sharma claimed the remarks made in the recording clearly questioned Twisha Sharma’s character, describing them as reflective of a “depraved mentality” and alleging that such remarks continue even after Twisha Sharma’s death.

The audio clip reportedly went viral shortly after the news of Twisha Sharma’s death became public. The family has stated that the recording further strengthens their concerns regarding the conduct of the in-laws during and after the incident.

The Madhya Pradesh government has recommended a Central Bureau of Investigation probe into the case and granted consent for the federal agency to take over the investigation. Family members have welcomed the decision, stating that it offers hope for a fair and impartial inquiry. Meenakshi Sharma said the intervention was necessary because “nothing fair is happening locally,” expressing confidence that the agency would retrieve allegedly erased evidence.

Twisha Sharma’s sister-in-law, Dr Rashi Oberoi Sharma, welcomed the recommendation for a Central Bureau of Investigation inquiry but stated that the decision had been significantly delayed. She alleged that the First Information Report was filed three days after the incident and further claimed that the family was pressured to proceed with last rites before the postmortem report was available.

She also raised concerns over the accuracy and handling of forensic evidence, alleging irregularities in the postmortem report, which she described as vague. She further claimed that crucial forensic material, including ligature evidence, was not submitted, calling it a major lapse by the Madhya Pradesh Police.

According to her, Twisha Sharma’s body has remained in the mortuary for nine days, as the family continues to seek clarity and justice. She added that the family has been unable to perform the last rites and properly mourn the loss due to the ongoing legal battle.

Twisha Sharma’s uncle, Lokesh Sharma, also alleged interference in the investigation and demanded swift action from central authorities. He stated that both the mother and son should have been arrested earlier and accused influential individuals of obstructing the inquiry. The family has also reiterated its demand for a second postmortem examination to ensure clarity and dignity in the final rites.

Samarth Singh’s legal licence has been suspended by the Bar Council of India. His mother, Giribala Singh, a former judge and also named as an accused in the case, remains under scrutiny as the investigation continues.

The case continues to develop amid serious allegations, disputed forensic findings, and mounting demands for an independent and comprehensive investigation.
